“HERON is a new 65' Schooner yacht built (2003) and operated by The Wooden Boat Company of Camden, Maine. She was designed by the famous yacht designer John G. Alden in 1929 and was one of his favorite design. HERON is a traditional wooden vessel built of the finest materials and to the highest quality yacht standards. She is a real work of art and a feast for the eyes. With a roomy cushioned cockpit and spacious decks, passengers can enjoy a relaxing sail in true comfort.”

We offer two packages for the Schooner Heron: one that is nature focused and does not include a meal and one which includes either a delightful lobster lunch or a gourmet dinner.
Lobster Lunch Cruise, 10:30 - 1:30 daily
$210 per person and up, plus tax
The perfect cruise to see the bay & enjoy the taste of Maine Lobster. Watch osprey and eagles soar overhead. See the harbor seals basking on the ledges at Robinson's Rocks and simply relax as the Schooner HERON takes the bay in her stride on our favorite downwind leg. Bonnie will serve a specially prepared Lobster Roll Lunch (in spring & fall lunch will be hot seafood chowder and fresh baked biscuits) then we'll tack over towards North Haven and round the whistle buoy by the ledges. Hot tea or coffee with cookies top off the perfect trip as we fall off the wind and head back into Rockport Harbor.

Rate includes: Two nights stay at the Inn at Camden Place, breakfast each morning at the Camden Bagel Café and 2 tickets for either the Maine Lobster Lunch or the Gourmet Sunset Sail on the Schooner Heron.
Indian Island Lighthouse / Wildlife Sail, 2:30 - 4:30 daily
$199 per person and up, plus tax
Join us aboard Schooner Heron for an afternoon sail. Heron will round Indian Island Lighthouse while we tell the seafaring history of Rockport Harbor and the significance of the lighthouses in the lime trade. Depending on wind & tide we will cross the bay to the birthplace of Andre the seal-Robinson's Rock. There are dozens of Harbor Seals that call this rock home, as well as porpoise in the surrounding waters. On our return we will spot the Bald Eagles nest on Mark Island. This is an very enjoyable sail as well as an educational insight into the natural history of the Maine Coast.

Gourmet Sunset Sail, 5:30 - sunset daily

The prettiest time of the day. HERON will tack out of Rockport Harbor, we'll ease her sheets and round Indian Island Light for her favorite point of sail, a beam reach across the Bay. Perfect conditions for HERON; comfortable and fast! We love to sail off the wind to serve hors d'oeuvres (BYOB). We'll see the seals on Robinsons Rock, run down between the islands or tack across the bay to North Haven. By now the sun will be setting behind the Camden Hills. We are back to Rockport Harbor in good time for the evening ashore. You are welcomed to bring along a bottle of wine to enjoy on your trip.
